I'm based in Montevideo, a small and quiet city capital of Uruguay. But, when it's possible, I love to take short road trips to the east where the most beautiful beaches are.
My favorite place in Uruguay:
I come from a family with an artistic tradition (My great-great-grandfather was Juan Zorrilla del San Martin, a poet of the country. My mother and aunts are painters. My older sister is a graphic designer)— so that's where the artistic roots come from. It was an easy decision since I was used to having contact with art.
I fell in love with the idea of helping people to achieve their goals and needs with simple but usable designs. That's why I started to learn UI/UX and tried making my designs more friendly to users.
I start by feeding Alfonsina (My 6-month baby girl), prepare breakfast with my wife, and prioritize my daily workload. Then, I make quick sync with my projects teams. I probably have a Design Review with my client to check the progress on the design track; and, after that, I work on my designs. When I'm not designing I love to read blogs and articles about technology, development, best practices, design, art, and other kind of stuff to learn new things every day.
I worked on the whole redesign of Albumii, an app for printing albums and photos. They are based in Kuwait, and that was a huge challenge for me because I needed to understand the users with a very different way of life than mine. Having several syncs with the Product Owner and the CEO of the company, I managed to understand the goal of the new design of the app. A 1-year long project finished with a great outcome and we're still improving and adding new features to the app.
I used to work with Sketch since few years ... and this last year, I shifted to Figma with a lot of fears ... and I'm loving it! Figma has everything you need to make your workflow completely smooth with the best communication among your dev team.
Trying to keep updated with the latest trends, new tools, and new guidelines. Also, finding the time to learn new things.
