Where are you from and/or where are you based as a Memorisely student?

I am currently based out of Atlanta, Georgia, USA. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

‍

Which Bootcamp did you choose to enroll in, and why?

I enrolled in the UX/UI Design BootCamp. Being a self-taught designer and having exhausted all the free online resources I could, I came across Zander's supa fast videos on Instagram, which led me to Memorisely. After joining the Bootcamp, it helped me validate the education I learned so far and helped me learn what I missed as well.

‍

What's it like to be a student in Memorisely's virtual classroom?

Memorisely's virtual classroom feels like a small family of the sort where everyone brings the best out of each other by collaborating and joking around to make the most out of being in a virtual environment. It has been so surprising to see how quickly the classes have gone by and how we are almost In the second half already. I am really excited to move forward.

‍

What has been your favorite part of Bootcamp so far? What's one learning that has surprised you in Bootcamp?

My favorite part of the Bootcamp is the Bootcamp itself β€” it gives me a reason to wake up at 3 am and learn with the most talented upcoming designers from around the world that I could wish for. One thing that surprised me In Bootcamp is the collaboration, and how it has taught me that nothing great can be built alone.

‍

What is the biggest challenge you face learning UX/UI Design?

The biggest challenge I have faced so far is getting feedback. As a newbie, it could be daunting to ask someone for feedback on your work or even don't know how to or where to go for feedback. It is crucial to ask for elaboration of the feedback, and how it will guide to create a better version. but joining the Memorisely Bootcamp has really helped me in receiving the proper feedback.

What does a typical day look like for you as a student?

A day In the life of a college student is pretty hectic as one can imagine. Doing all-nighters for assignments with the Bootcamp really humbles you πŸ™‚.

  • My day usually starts around 8 am, by eating some fruits and coffee before I jump into doing my workout.
  • In the mornings I like to get up and spend some time reading and getting stuff done. The morning is definitely my most productive chunk of time, so I tend orient myself and my tasks to do some focused work.
  • The afternoon usually goes away in taking classes or doing homework.
  • In the evening, after finishing my work, I take a break and talk to family and friends –– it's important isn't it? after sunset, I get back to my book and social media.

‍

My favorite thing to start of the day is an Indian cold coffee ( a Frappucino basically ) πŸ‘‡

‍

What are your go-to or "must have" apps?

  • Figma
  • Apple Music
  • Notion
  • Mobbin
  • Twitter β€” for design news and community
  • Zoom

‍

What product recently blew your socks off?

A product that recently blew my socks off Is the PlayStation 5. It's amazing to see how they have taken the design of a physical product to the next level by pushing the design to its limits by almost making it look like spaceship of sort. Even with the UI, they have refreshed it and made the whole product more user centric.

and if anyone would like a game of Fifa, my DM's are always open 😎

‍

What tunes do you listen to whilst designing?

These days I am usually shuffling through CLB and Donda.

‍

Share three pieces of advice for fellow and/or future students?

  1. Learn as you go. Never feel like you don't have the skills to attempt something. Even if you fail, you learn twice as fast and put every ounce of your knowledge into practice.
  2. Be curious, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Never accept something without having a proper understanding. It is imperative to question conventions as well. Always ask the WHY.
  3. Auto layout everything. πŸ˜‰
